IoT Technology Manager
Marlena is an alumni of the IoT in Oil & Gas Conference joining as a previous panel speaker and attendee. Ms. Nickel is an esteemed, multi-disciplinary knowledge expert and tenured oil and gas/ energy professional. My role encompasses a knowledge of various disciplines including digital solution development, mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering, chemicals, IT architecture, wireless communications, asset operations, performance, maintenance, and HSSE (including explosive environments), I established Shell's Internet of Things (IOT) strategy and roadmap, which involves incubating novel, disruptive, cost saving wireless technologies to improve business processes and drive innovation solutions across our Enterprise. I pioneering the first implementation of LoRaWAN within Oil and Gas at a manufacturing facility. Predominant focus areas in my 25 year career at Shell include leading efforts in IT projects excellence, IT portfolio management, Financial Analysis, Business Intelligence (data), and Enterprise SAP/ BW. I enjoy the challenge of working proactively to solve issues, identifying sources of business value, with a strong delivery/ continuous improvement focus. I am married, with two grown children and a two-year old grandbaby. I enjoy travelling, cruises, crafts, crochet, and spending time at my beautiful home in the Houston area.
